Capt. John Francis Clapton MC

Capt. John Francis Clapton MC, formerly of the Cameronians and then of No.12 (Army) Commando, joined No.6 (Army) Commando as a Sub-altern Lieutenant in No.6 Troop on 11th October 1943.  On 9th August 1944 he was promoted to Captain and Troop Commander of No.1 Troop of No.6 (Army) Commando.  On 25th February 1945 he was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry, being presented with the award by Field Marshal Sir Bernard Montgomery at a short ceremony in Weert on 5th March 1945.
